It’s all in the mind so we are constantly told.
So how do we get the healthy stuff in our heads to start with?
What most of us do is watch TV and read newspapers.
Every day we feel a need to keep up with the news and the media have it all worked out how to satisfy our cravings.
And we all argue back saying to ourselves we can stop reading and watching any time we like.
So why don’t we?
For a start the media know all of the tricks to keep our attention, from suggestive words to emotional pictures and music, it’s all planned to keep our attention focussed on their products which will satisfy our every need.
Even when we have kept the media at bay our first contact with our friends usually ends up did you see that program on the TV or did you read about so and so in the paper.
We all do it.
I have no problem with it really but apart from the fact of the question I ask myself how will this affect me?
How many times have we all asked ourselves what am I here for?
What do I really want to do?
And then how many of us have been able to answer the question?
Let’s look at it another way how much of the media stuff really is important to us?
Will it give us a pay rise?
I doubt it?
Will we sleep easy knowing half the world is starving?
Years ago when we were all a lot younger we filled our days without reading newspapers or watching TV (just when did we start with TV and when did 24 hours start and how many TV channels are available?
Do we really need all of this?
How come we are not keeping fit and learning new skills?
